The Caged Bird

Every evening,
begins the routine,
the sky turns orange
the birds return home,
while I sit in the cage,
watching this view,
day and night

The night appears,
I can't sleep,
in the golden cage,
I sit forever,
waiting day and night
for freedom

The sky so wide,
large and open,
empty and fresh
unlike this cage
with railings
preventing me
from flying

Oh sweet love!
Where are you?
I wait here
imprisoned and helpless
by my human captive

My feathers long
for the wind
dancing and playing
while I fly
with clouds fluffy
white and grey

The starved need food,
The drought needs water,
The child needs mother
The unloved ones need love,
and I need freedom
