Summer Terrible

 Summer terrible,
 the season so abominable
 that raises my temper
 whenever it arrives

The sun at boiling best
raising the temperature at its worst
 drying the river beds,
 making me wish
 for the cool evening breeze

of the God Almighty.
Tiny drops , not very large
are blessings to life

to cool it's burning heart.

Hot soups burn tongues
though tasty and delicious
don't relish our taste buds,
while the chilled milkshake
relieves my soul.

Trees are best friends
that protect me
from blazing heat,
though they are dwindling
year after year

Oh the mighty rain gods,
shower  your blessings,
drive away summer
and hide the sun
with your fluffy clouds
