The promise

Her lips were red
like petals of the rose
Her eyes were innocent blue
that had not witnessed
big bad world.

She wore red dress
with dancing white polka dots
It was first gift
from love of her life

She waited for him
at the place
where he left her
with a promise
to come back soon

Three years passed
like three hours
and there was no sign
of him coming back

Her feet ached
due to unforgiving
six inch heel
and the long wait

While everybody lost hope
she didn't give up
A ray of light
shined within her
that he would come
and sweep her
by his magical charm

As clock struck twelve,
it was time to leave
She returned back home
with unbroken hope
that he will come tomorrow

The second chance

I was cold
with my heart broken
by many wrong men
who I believed
to be my shiny armour prince

Ah! My foolish heart
fell too quickly
due to tricks and lies
I learnt from fantasy land

I knew the pain
was coming
but I didn’t care
I fell deep and hard
like Alice in the wonderland

The nights were horrible
with pain filled dreams
about past I screwed
I had lost hope
and love to me
was fictional

I was lost
in woods of despair
when he came out of nowhere
saving me from my demons

He instilled in me
a belief in love
and showed me
what it is to being loved

He loved me deeply,
breaking the wall
I had built
He showered me
care and affection
that I had missed so long

Love is a treasure
that cannot be found
It happens
just like that

What Diwali means to you and what it means to your parents ?

What does Diwali means to us? Well, that's a pretty interesting question to answer. As kids ( for my sister and me), Diwali was about bursting crackers of various kinds. During teens, Diwali for us, was desire to meet cousins as we stayed far away from them ( We were staying in Dubai while cousins and relatives were in Bangalore)

But now Diwali means much more to us. While mum would be busy preparing sweets with help of aunty (her sister), Diwali for her would be sharing the pain and fun in preparing sweets with aunty. For my sister, it means wearing new clothes and looking her best. For my Dad, Diwali means meeting old friends and spending time (the time that he had lost during previous Diwalis) with family. For me, Diwali is not just a festival but celebrating happiness.
In whole It is beginning of new chapter to us ( family and me). It is sharing of love and joy with friends and family. It is forgiving people and giving them a chance to redeem themselves . It is about forgetting the past and moving forward towards the bright future. It is lighting the diya of hope within our hearts and discarding the fear within us.

For us, Diwali is not just a occasion to celebrate Lord Rama’s return from exile. It is not just a festival for us where the good wins against the evil. It is spreading happiness into our lives. It is a day where we forget our miseries for sometime. It is a day when everyone comes together ( forgetting the cold wars) to share special moments. It is a day where elders bless while young ones seek for love and affection. It is pious occasion that brings in togetherness, happiness and positivity in everybody’s lives. It is a day where you burn the evil inside our soul.

I would like to share a small poem which will summarize what Diwali means to us.

While lights of diya wait
to gleam like shining star.
While the kids wait eagerly
to bursts crackers of joy .

Diwali has begun for us
when new hope for beginning
has lit within us.

While sweets of love
is being shared amongst everyone.
While people wear new clothes
as a symbol of new beginning

Diwali for us,
is symbol of breaking free
from our inner demons

While friends come home
with gifts of love
While family sit down
to celebrate the pious occasion

Diwali for us
is not just a festival
It is an occasion
to celebrate happiness

While for everyone
Diwali is just occassion
for coming together

Diwali for us
is celebration
of everything positive

On this special occasion, I wish everyone Happy Diwali :)

A Love Poem

My heart beats his name
a thousand time
My mind  draws imaginations
of fantasies of every little girl.

My face glows
when I take his name
My body trembles
with his every touch

Love didn't seem special
until he came into my life
Time never felt so long
while our day of  union
is few nights away

The sweet kisses,
the passionate love,
the tight bear hugs,
and the sparks
glorify our romance

The day when we commit
to safeguard each other's heart,
We will look into (each other's)eyes
at the dreams of our future

At that special day
I make a promise
to protect his heart
with love and care
I promise to love him
with all heart and mind
I also promise him
to be truly his
